A Few Pipeline Stories Meeting needs - whether one person, or a thousand.
Mission Hospital – A decade-long project in the remote Peten region opened in 2006. As construction developed, the Vine Pipeline assisted with medical & facility equipment, medical supplies, & medicines. Along with funding, purchasing, & shipping items like the back-up generator, transformers, & a 4x4 ambulance, Vine connected the project with other US resources to help complete & grow the project – like Samaritan’s Purse & MedEquip Missions for technical & equipment support – from x-ray & diagnostic equipment – to biomed technician services - to power installation. This is an incredible story of ministries coming together & staying the course.
Mission Clinic – In the remote Rio Dulce region of Guatemala, a small clinic was developing there to meet the needs of the “river” people – people who have nothing – much less money for healthcare. The Vine Pipeline has been a key source for out-fitting the clinic & providing supplies & medicines & nutritional items for their pharmacy. In 2005, a ground-up, orphanage project began via Vine connecting the project with support & funding resources in the US. Again, a story of people coming together.
National Medical Worker – In 1993, a young Guatemalan doctor got a call for help. A new-born was struggling for life & without an incubator & would likely not survive. Only 2 days earlier, he had received 2 of them via the Vine Pipeline - & the story continues, not only through a child that’s now a teenager, but through countless others served through this network.
Water Well – A ministry needed to get 2 portable well-drilling units to Guatemala. The ½-ton, casket-size boxes went through Vine’s Pipeline providing fresh water where there had been none.
Wheelchair – A 19-year old girl was confined to bed for 15 years because her mom was unable to move her. A friend of Vine heard about the need & took her a wheelchair that had come through the Pipeline. She was unable to express her thanks in words, but moved this normally stoic guy to tears as she squeezed his hand.
Wheelchairs – A wheelchair repair shop in Chimaltenango had prayed for 3 years for God to bring the wheelchairs they needed to begin their ministry. In 1994, that prayer was answered with their first load via the Vine Pipeline. This project has grown to meet the mobility needs of thousands of people & along with a network of like-minded projects, the poor are served throughout Guatemala with resources from US ministries like Joni & Friends & Hope Haven International.
